In a world where the existence of “Quality R&B” is constantly questioned, Kenyon Dixon reminds us that it is most definitely alive and thriving. As one of this generation’s emerging Songwriters, working with a range of artists from R&B Legends Mary J Blige, Tyrese & Ginuwine to Pop Superstar Justin Timberlake, Dixon has still managed to reserve some ink for his own catalogue of timeless music.
Having toured as a supporting vocalist for Nick Jonas, Jill Scott, Kelly Rowland, Justin Timberlake, Kirk Franklin—just to name a few, the proud Los Angeles (Watts) native, has smoothly transitioned to center stage and proven that he is destined to become a household name.
In January 2021, Dixon released his self-written and co-produced LP, Expectations which garnered a tremendous amount of support— amassing over 2 Million first week streams across platforms, independently— and co-signs from some of the industry elite, including vocal legend Kim Burrell, R&B’s “Vocal Bible” Brandy Norwood, Super-producers Jermaine Dupri, Timbaland and more. With collaborations from artists like V. Bozeman, Avery Wilson, and Alex Isley, this project has added to the list of many reasons why his newly adapted moniker “R&B Kenny” is well deserved.
Other notable highlights include being a featured vocalist on BET’s SoulTrain Awards (2020), solidifying a spot on the coveted Michelle Obama Playlist, writing the fan favorite in Universal Picture’s “Trolls: World Tour” movie, “Perfect for Me” and Dixon has most recently teamed up with contemporaries PJ Morton & BJ the Chicago Kid for an epic cover of the soulful Sam Cooke classic “Bring it on Home to Me”.
With his smooth and sultry vocals, vulnerable lyrics, and undeniable records— that are bound to leave you with all of the feels—Dixon delivers the R&B we love every single time. As conversations swirl with doubt about the current state of Music, Kenyon Dixon possesses the unquestionable qualities to reassure us that “good” Music is here to stay.
