Barely.
It seemed like half the Hideout staff was working in some capacity or another through the shimmering heat of this weekend’s Pitchfork Music Festival. (Yours truly was holding down a booth in the craft tent — and let me tell you, soup is a rough sell when the heat index hits triple digits.)
We’ll be back soon after we’ve rehydrated and washed the Union Park grime from between our toes. Hopefully by Wednesday, when we’ve got former Fiery Furnace Eleanor Friedberger, whose new record got (speaking of P4K) a 7.9 on the site last week. Peter Margasak, at the Reader, also singles this show out — and at the low, low price of $5 a head, tickets are going fast. That’s at 8 PM SHARP on Wednesday, and is followed at 9:30 by another installment of the Immediate Sound Series, with Extraordinary Popular Delusions (Mars Williams, Jim Baker, Brian Sandstrom, Jim Hunt) and DJ Tim Daisy.
In the meantime: Check out Robbie Fulks, tonight, with Beau Sample and Robbie Gjersoe, followed by Hot Grits with your hot and gritty DJs Jacob Ross and John Corbett. Tomorrow: Justin and the Salty Dogs.
