This Week at the Hideout!

Hello friends!
Before we get to this week’s a few quick things!  Two Hideout Block Party / Onion & AV Fest  bands are on the airwaves this week!  The War on Drugs just destroyed on David Letterman this Monday.  Watch the video here.  Then catch Sylvan Esso tonight on Jimmy Fallon!  See both of them here on September 6th at the Block Party and get your tickets now!
On to this week!
Tonight we have Veggie Bingo from 5:30 to 8:00.  After a few weeks of rain it looks like today is the day to sit out in front with a Wooden Leg and win some great prizes from Irv and Shelly’s Fresh Picks, Dill Pickle Co-op, Central Pickling and more!  Hot dogs donated by Hot Doug’s will be coming off the grill!
Then, Immediate Sound Series presents Clark Sommers’ Ba(SH) with Geof Bradfield on saxophone, ClarkSommers on bass and Dana Hall on drums.
Thursday we have Reina del Cid.   Reina’s vocals are sweet as a summer’s day, and with her band of virtuosos, she delivers a spirited folk rock set with the spot-on luster of a veteran artist.  We also have the fantastic Sima Cunningham and Sikiyadigo to round out this fresh and folky bill.
Friday, we have Shame That Tune, a live comedy game show featuring diaries, interviews, and spontaneously-composed songs!  “Shame That Tune” is co-hosted by two of Chicago’s most prodigious creative forces: Abraham Levitan and Brian Costello.  Always a hilarious way to start off the weekend!
Later, we have the Record Release show for Swimsuit Addition celebrating the drop of “Wretched Pinups” Swimsuit Addition is not a girl band. They are a band of badasses from Chicago that melds diverse influences ranging from post-punk and new wave to dance rock and surf.  Opening up is Kithkin, a Cascadian youth tribe out to spread the hidden knowledge of the forests. Through its rituals and performances, Kithkinhopes to confront crowds about the impending ‘end of things’ through witchee rhythms and chaotic sorcery. Kangaroo opens.
Saturday, we welcome The Comedy Exposition of 2014.  TCE is an independent comedy festival celebrating the best in local and national standup.
At 1:30pm we have The Late Late Breakfast who present a new reason to roll out of bed early on the weekend. Chicago’s only open mic comedy show for a drunken, weird Saturday afternoon. Hosted by lovable scamps Tyler Jackson and Danny Maupin, always a fun mess to get into.
At 7:30, we have Sean Patton and Aparna Nancheria.  Sean Patton is a Comedian based in New York and Los Angeles by way of New Orleans.   Sean made  his Network TV debut on “Late night with Jimmy Fallon“. He also recently appeared on “Conan” (2011), and his first half hour special premiered on Comedy Central in June of 2013.  Aparna Nancherla started doing comedy in Washington, DC, before moving to Los Angeles and becoming wildly popular there. Last year, she was snapped up by FX’s Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, where she was hired as a writer and even appeared on camera for a few popular, funny segments.  Danielle Radford, Ian Douglas Terry, Liza Treyger, Tommy Mac round out the bill and the night is hosted byGoodrich Gevaart
At 10:00, we have Brooks Wheelen of Saturday Night Live!  Joining him is Ryan Singer, With his high-energy delivery and unpretentious leanings, there’s not a lot to dislike about comedian Ryan Singer. And it’s not just us saying it: In the last few years, he’s won over audiences headlining the nation’s finer comedy clubs and was hailed by Marc Maron in Rolling Stone as a comedian “who should be big.  Chris Charpentier, CJ Sullivan, Rebecca O’Neal and Sammy Arechar round out the bill and the night is hosted by Zach Peterson
At midnight, we get to dancing with Malt Shop playing the best of the 60s and the 70s!
Sunday, we have the Hideout Highlands Sendoff.  To celebrate their upcoming mekon/Robbie expedition to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland in August, the Hideout is proud to sponsor and send off Jon Langford, Robbie Fulks and Sally Timms on their epic voyage across the pond. Jon, Sally and Robbie will be showcasing new songs written for the occasion along with Robbie and mekon favorites. Be the first to hear the output of this unholy union.
Monday, Robbie Fulks serves up Merle Travis vs Miles Davis with a band of bipolar people.  Should be an exciting set to see how Robbie mashes these legends up together!
Tuesday, we start a monthly night with Devil in the Woodpile.  Come see this great Hideout band play sets out on the porch if the weather is nice or cozy up with them in the front bar if it’s not!  What a great Tuesday night Happy Hour.
Later, we have Gabriel Wallace continue on his Tuesday night Residency.  Tonight he presents The Jazz Singer.  A read-through and workshop session for Gabriel Wallace’s latest play. Anyone who attends may participate.  Preceded by Three Fluxpieces, Wallace will perform his Scour Piece, Friend Piece, and LoverPiece. All three pieces are being performed for the first time.
