This Week at the Hideout!

Hello friends!
Time to emerge from the polar vortex and warm up with a Wooden Leg, good music and good friends.  Here is what we have going on!
Next week we are happy to present an awesome variety of nationally acclaimed stand-ups as part of the TNK Fest.  We have James Adomian, Natasha LeggeroNikki Glaser and Kyle Dunnigan.  Each performer is doing and early show and a late show, see them twice if you have a favorite!  Tickets are moving fast so get them now!
Tonight we have Old Lazarus’ Harp Folk Collective.   Bringing together the best Chicago Folk acts we haveSpitzer Space TelescopeCan I Get An AmenBecky LeviHoney Hole Johnson and their friends. Every OLH show is a fiery resurrection of traditional folk songs. Covering everything from old time fiddle tunes to medieval ballads, Old Lazarus’ Harp keeps folk music raw, wild and raucous.
Friday, the early show is the improvised musical game show Shame That Tune!  This week the brave contestants are Thymme Jones from Cheer Accident, comedian Danny Black and all-time champion PeterAndreadis.  Come and see this hilarious show tonight.
Our late show is Cheer Accident.  Hailing from the singularly vibrant musical hotbed known as Chicago, Cheer-Accident has been a creative, vital force in rock music for over 20 years. They constantly strive to surprise their audiences and themselves through relentless reinvention. From dreamy pop to angular art-rock, Cheer-Accident strikes a powerful balance between personalized and unique studio wizardry and the visceral excitement of a well-honed, explosive live rock band.
Saturday we have a very special show Songs: Molina – A Memorial Electric Co.  In May of 2013, less than two months after the untimely loss of Jason Molina, his bandmates from all eras of his career – the Spineriders, Songs: Ohia, and Magnolia Electric Co – met in Bloomington, IN to pay tribute to the life and songs of their fallen brother. While the absence of Molina’s unmistakeable voice weighed heavily on the crowd of fans and friends, the power of the songs – voiced, that night, by contemporaries who had been, in one way or another, a big part of Jason’s life – shone brightly. This particular tribute happened one night in May, but the ties of those musicians, brought together by one very determined and talented man, led many of them to decide that such an event might need to happen again. Tonight is that night, we are sold out.  If you can’t make it tonight we hope that you can put on a Molina album in tribute.
Dance party starts at midnight of the East of Edens Soul Express. Spinning the best classic and vintage soul & r&b LPs.
Sunday we have Stéphanie Lamia.  Stéphanie is a contestant from The Voice television show in France. This marks a rare appearance for the singer song-writer in this special benefit performance for Advantage Love Foundation.
Monday, we have Robbie Fulks first show of 2014 after last weeks Chiberian weather fiasco.  Performing theBitter Ex-Beatle Night this will be Robbie at his finest, with a bit of snark on his sleeve.
Tuesday we have Fictlicious, You only have one shot to make it to the Fictlicious Second Chances show. Featuring stories by Natalia Nebel, Doug Reed, Brian Harder, Paul Nicholas Jones and Micki LeSueur. Music by Liam DavisStephanie Rogers and Matthew Shelton.
Followed by the second night of Davy Knowles residency.  Davy’s brand of blues, roots and rock blew the roof off the Hideout this past week so you will not want to miss him this month in these rare Chicago appearances.
Stay warm!
