Tonight we have the Hideout Holiday Office Party featuring sketch comedy from the people who bring youFunny Ha-Ha, The Interview Show, Shame That Tune and Schadenfreude with special guest Psalm One and a couple of aldermen! If you miss it, you will be fired.
For our late show, Immediate Sound Series presents the DKV Trio featuring two sets from Hamid Drake on drums, Kent Kessler on bass and Ken Vandermark on reeds. Cale Arthur and Lawrence Peters will be DJing in between sets. Get here early! Seating is limited.
Thursday we have Jinx Titanic and the Lady Killers. After morphing from the porno punk of Super 8 Cum Shot into the muscle-bound smut rock of Jinx Titanic, Jinx gets all dressed up, puts on his dancing shoes, and explores a more playful, nostalgic side with his new band The Ladykillers. The Joans, a band dedicated to emulating Joan Crawford opens along with the smooth sambas of Carpacho y Su Super Combo.
Friday we have The God, Sex, Death Variety Hour hosted by Danny Black kicking off at 6:30. A night of storytelling and comedy based on the three most interesting themes in life always sets the audience alight with glee.
Later, fresh from a European tour we have Joan of Arc. Jumping between mathy ballads, acoustic meanderings, minimalist experimentation, and post-rock-indie-epics, Joan Of Arc have exhibited a fearless artistry in their 14 years of existence. Pinebender opens.
On Saturday, kicking off at 11am we have The Hideout’s Last Chance Holiday Sale! The artisans this year include Soup & Bread, Rhymes with Twee, Rock Candy by Helen, Hidden Folk, Bloodshot Records and many many more! We end right at 6 so come early and drink and shop!
Later we have Scott Lucas & the Married Men present the 4th Annual Hideout Holiday Music Hour. Continuing the tradition they started with a holiday show in 2010, Scott Lucas & the Married Men are aiming to emulate “A Prairie Home Companion” with the evening’s set and will structure the night as an old tyme radio variety show. Chicago-based Purple Apple will open the show, crafting a setlist of chock full of fan favorites, holiday covers and new material.
Our Saturday night dance party this week is RETREAT featuring the best in house, techno, pop and more! Kicks off at midnight.
Closed on Sunday.
On Monday we have our final Holiday jamboree with Lowdown Brass Band. Lowdown Brass Band (LDB), hailing from Chicago, is a ten-piece, horn-driven ensemble with strong roots in the New Orleans Second Line Tradition. Opening up is The Heard.
We are closed for Christmas Eve and Christmas.
Next Thursday we have Al Scorch’s Feast of Friendship. With a large array of artists including Al Scorch’s Country-Soul Ensemble and Man is Man playing in the back room. Things kick off with Adventure Sandwich,Sima Cunningham & Chris Kimmon playing the front during the day. Everything Is Terrible videos all night. And wrapping up with DJ Sets from Impala Sound Champions and East of Edens Soul Express, this is a great way to hold on the the spirit for one last day.
