This Week at the Hideout!

Hello friends!
Another stellar week at the Hideout on the horizon.  Here’s what’s going on!
Tonight, come and play at The PIT Tournament Fundraiser to help raise funds for Pocket Guide to Hell’s next reenactment at 6!  Corner the market in the fast and fun Parker Brothers game as seen on TV’s Freaks and Geeks! Top traders will win prizes donated by the Chicago Architecture Foundation, Northwestern University Press, and CME trader Ryan Carlson! Eat food based on the commodities being traded!
Later, the Immediate Sound Series presents Gregorio/Giallorenzo Duo & the Nate Lepine Trio.  First set has Guillermo Gregorio on reeds and Paul Giallorenzo on piano.  Second set is with Nate Lepine on tenor saxophone & flute, Willie Blair on bass and Joe Adamik on drums.  Only seven dollars tonight!
Thursday, if you are looking for a solid rock ‘n’ roll showcase come to the release party for a new split EP fromThe Pamphleteers and Blasted Diplomats. The Pamphleteers are bassist-vocalist Rebecca Crawford, guitarist Jonathan Ben-Isvy, and drummer Geoff Atkinson.  They draw on myriad influences from the early British Invasion, nascent psychedelia, proto-metal, to 1980’s new wave to yield tuneful nuggets and aggressively moody dirges that result in a sort of psychedelic new wave delivered with punk urgency. Blasted Diplomats, whose members you may recognize from Reckless Records, Fast Product, or Alma Negra, play expansive, lusty rock with a hairy Crazy Horse/Long Ryders feel.  Flesh Panthers opens.
Friday we start off with The Interview Show hosted by Mark Bazer.  This weeks guests are Hebru Brantley, Daniel Okrent, Noah Haidle and Mick Dumke.  The show also has music from The Precious Moments.
Later, we have a fantastic show with The Pines.   The mysterious sound of The Pines fuses ethereal, otherworldly, heart-piercing songs with earthy, darkly romantic and rough-hewn visionary tales. With masterful guitar work, beautiful vocals and the graceful keyboard the core of The Pines’ sound captivates and elevates with rare intimacy.  Opening is Kate Adams whose soft touching folk songs are quickly making her a Hideout favorite.  Also opening is Marisa Anderson with lush electric and acoustic solo guitar pieces that expand into epic landscapes.  I’ve not been able to stop listening to her debut album.  This is a powerful show to not be missed.
Saturday afternoon, if you are new to music scene we have an event just for you.  Kenny Rasmussen, a live sound engineer around Chicago for the past eight years, is setting up a Sound Q & A to field inquiries from musicians concerning the technical side of performing live. Dealing with clubs and live sound can be very foreign and stressful for many musicians, so hopefully this event will provide an avenue to address technical and diplomatic concerns to aid in your future live shows running smoothly.
Saturday evening, we have a concert benefiting NAMI.  ANTONY &THE TRAMPS headlines with their American Gypsy music.  The music is fun, grounded, joyful and foot-stompingly catchy.  They sold out last time they were here so get your tickets now.  Lots of special guests appearing through out the night and with openers Midnite on Pearl Beach, The Bribes and Baby Money this show will be a beauty.
At midnight, get your dance on with Chances Dances, the popular queer dance party with a focus on artists and a legendary history of work that has changed the Chicago queer community forever.
Sunday, we are closed to the public for a private party.  Monday we are closed as well.
