This Week at the Hideout!

Hello Friends!
Great week ahead of us, but first, single-day tickets are now on sale for the 17th Annual Hideout Block Party/AV Fest.  Excitement is building as it is only one month away!  Get your tickets now because you won’t want to miss this years show.
Tonight we have Hideout’s Veggie Bingo.  We have been sustaining our Wednesday nights’ with deliciousfree hot dogs donated by Hot Doug’s and the grand prize basket of veggies from Irv and Shelly’s Fresh Picks.  Last week was one of the most popular Veggie Bingo’s to date, so come early to grab a seat!
Later, the Immediate Sound Series presents Morris/Bandhead/Zerang.  First set is Joe Morris on solo guitar, joining him for the second is Harrison Bankhead on bass and Michael Zergan on drums.
Thursday, we be jamming’ with The Drastics.  The Drastics are modern roots music. Their sound fits as easily in a Kingston dancehall as it does in an artist’s loft-party in the warehouse district.  Opening we have The Opposition Party and Ted Sirota’s Heavyweight Dub.  It will be a real fun night mon.
Friday we kick things off with the hilarious improvised musical game show Shame That Tune.  Join Abraham, Brian and company as they deliver comedic gold in this monthly show.
Later we have Hideout favorite The Lawrence Peters Outfit.  Opening up we have New York City’s Jack Grace.  Village Voice has said that you can “practically taste the whiskey dripping off the songs” of Grace.  Sounds like Hideout material to us!  Cloudbirds opens with their tree part harmonies and intertwining guitars.
Saturday afternoon we have Jeremy & Nat’s Synth Get-Together-Groove-Out and Swap Electronics Spectacular!  Come geek out on some synth’s with other like-minded nerds!
Saturday night is a fundraising event for Misericordia in honor of Bree Creevy.  The bands performing that night are Cherry Glazerr, Os Pals & Maggie Tobin & the Other Guys.  Come out for a great night of music all for a great cause.
Dance Party this week is the grooves of the 50s, 60s and some 70s from Malt Shop!
Sunday we have the Louisville psych rock band Old Baby.  Opening up is Catherine Irwin of Freakwater.  Whether the landscape is urban or rural, personal or political, the terrain over which Catherine drags her pen is dark, but paved with diamonds.
Monday we have a special theatrical performance of the Neo-Futurists The Carter Family Family Show.  The play is about the original family of country music. In the 1920s and 30s, audiences across the country huddled around the radio to listen to classic harmonies of well-loved songs such as “I’m Thinking Tonight of My Blues,” “Can the Circle be Unbroken,” “Wildwood Flower” being broadcast from a Mexican radio station just across the border. Joining the show is special guest Jeremy David Miller.
Tuesday night is Word is Out.  Word Is Out is a spoken word storytelling show by OutLoud Chicago and In Our Words Blog. The second season opener is called It Takes Two and features storytelling pairs. Are you seeing double? Because sometimes one story is too big for one storyteller. And sometimes they just disagree. Either way, join hosts and creators Adam Guerino and Patrick Gill as they co-host a cast of amazing storytellers for only $5.
Later we have Rick Sherry and Joel Paterson of Devil in a Woodpile on their second night of their month long residency.  Last night was great so we can’t wait to see what they’ll be up to this time around.
