This Week at the Hideout!

Hello friends
After a hot summer weekend perhaps its time to get indoors and take in some music in our intimate, cozy and air-conditioned club.  We’ve got a lot of great shows coming this week as well so come on by!
First off, grab your Block Party tickets now.  It’s going to one of the best!
Tonight we have Hideout’s Veggie Bingo called by Diana Slickman & David Kodeski  and supporting Mozart’s Garden.  Hot dogs, bingo, beer and prizes!
Later, Immediate Sound Series, presents what will likely be a legendary show withBrötzmann/Adasiewicz/DrakePeter Brötzmann recently disbanded his Chicago Tentet, a long-standing band consisting mainly of free-jazz musicians from this neck of the woods, but he certainly hasn’t cut ties to the Windy City. Tonight’s concert is the second that the septuagenarian reedist has played here this year, and the trio he’ll lead brings together one of his newest local associates and one of the most established.” – Chicago Reader
Thursday we have Mark Mulcahy.  Mark is the former singer of Miracle Legion. That band lasted a long time and did great things. His next band was Polaris.  ‘Dear Mark J Mulcahy I Love You’ is the next and newest record which was raved about in Pitchfork. Now signed to Fire Records, Mark is back to making music and playing live.  Healing Power opens.  This show is likely to sell out so get your tickets now!
Friday, we start off with laughs from the dark recesses of some of Chicago’s up and coming comedians with theGod, Sex, Death Variety Hour with host Danny Black.
Later we we have the ten-piece horn driven power house The Low Down Brass Band.  It will be loud hot and fun!  Opening is the raucous and celebratory Furious Frank.
Saturday, is Thomas Dunning’s Final HOOT Night: Motown vs Broadway.  In 1996, local scenester Thomas Dunning took over the Hoot Nights from Susan Voelz and Michael Hall after they had brought the tradition with them in the great Austin-to-Chicago Poi migration of 1994. A theme, two surprise cover songs from each act, cross-pollination of artists as often as possible and a whole lot of laughs.  A power-house of guests perform including Nora O’Connor, Liam Davis, Steve Frisbie and many more.
Saturday night dance party is oldies and soul from the 50s, 60s and 70s with The Malt Shop!
Sunday evening we welcome a new staple to the Hideout collective, Making Out with Wes Perry and Friends.  This great night of singing, story-telling, comedy, performance art and queerness has been a favorite event through out the city for over a year and we’re happy to have them perform here!
Monday is a Chicago Zine Fest Movie Night.  A small fundraiser for an awesome event.  Popcorn is being provided and the movie they are showing is a classic!  Come and be surprised!
Tuesday is the final evening of July’s Residency Series with Abraham Levitan.  He brings things to a close with a reunion of Baby Teeth.  A cheeky indie band that was a staple for many years comes back for one night only!
See you soon!
