Hello fine people!
It’s another fine week over here in new-tree-land … assuming our trees haven’t washed away in the storm. Have a look:
Singing in the Abbey, described as “Thom Yorke and Julie Andrews’ bastard love child” sound, plays Thursday (that’s tonight!).
Friday is a two show night: First, everyone’s favorite live comedy game show Shame That Tune fires up the wheel at 6:30, then Bottomless Pit mixes their chemistry at 10 for a party celebrating the 20th anniversary of everyone’s favorite purveyors of “outsider art,” Intuit!
Saturday we have David Singer & the Sweet Science (David scored August: Osage County, Tracy Letts’ Tony Award-winning play, birthed just over yonder at Steppenwolf), and Sunday the Black Twig Pickers continue the sweetness with a bluegrass set on the patio.
Early warnings for next week include:
• Locrian this Monday instead of Robbie Fulks
• Hideout staple Sanctified Grumblers on Tuesday. The AV Club ran a nice li’l piece on them a few weeks back, though note that right now they’re not playing EVERY Tuesday.
• And on Friday, June 16, we are super excited for a super special comedy night featuring Charlyne Yi, Neal Brennan (co-creator of “Chappelle’s Show”), DJ Douggpound (The Tim and Eric Awesome Show), and Lisa Laureta.
