Shubh Saran

“The shred chameleon” as named by Guitar World, Shubh Saran is a New York-based guitarist, composer, and producer who has performed globally with his band. Having grown up in six different countries, his music has been shaped by a mixture of influences. Saran’s songs fuse sounds from progressive rock and fusion with classical and contemporary Indian music. Pitchfork describes his music “a heartfelt exploration of the ups and downs of being part of the world’s fastest-growing floating tribe—part global citizen, part cultural refugee,” and named the album to its list of Best Jazz and Experimental Music of 2021. This fall, he is scheduled to release his fifth release, an EP entitled Being Anybody Else.

Sometimes described as “Meshuggah in Major” and more often described as “a band”, Snooze is, most succinctly, a happy, heavy, mathy band from Chicago. Their first full length record “Familiaris” is a through-composed concept album that chronicles the life of a beloved family dog, all while clustered vocal harmonies are thrown against polyrhythmic neck-pain-inducing breakdowns. With the release of the 2020 EP “Still”, Snooze memorialized their long-time bassist, Cameron Grom. They plan on releasing another, even more fuller length album in 2024, complete with crowd-sourced choir and orchestra parts from dear friends all over the globe.
