The Hideout and Stretch Metal are proud to announce Drone Rodeo StretchMetal’s monthly ambient music series in the round.
American-Canadian Grace Scheele’s music hones minimalistic textures within noise landscapes – creating a sound that is “a pliable, fluid, continuum…that’s as beautiful as it is unconventional” (Canadian Music Centre). She is an electroacoustic harpist, composer, and improviser dually based in Chicago and Toronto.
Hollowalk is the solo ambient project of Zach Schwoebel. Recording his songs to old tape cassettes, Schwoebel melds his love of low-fidelity music with improvised lush guitar work and the occasional toy synthesizer. Though starting as a mere hobby, the project quickly became a viable creative outlet with the album It’s Only Nowhere dropping in 2023. Through warping pitch, manipulating delay pedals, and droning loops, the project grapples with modernity through its meditatively chaotic performances.
StretchMetal is a Chicago-based nonprofit resource network, label, and concert series promoting emerging artists in the ever-evolving landscape of abstract sound.
