To celebrate my April birthday, I’m inviting all my nearest dearest to the Hideout to play music and celebrate with me! I’ll have a rotating cast of friends join me on my set and have a couple of my favorite Chicago bands play sets of their own! – Al

Chicago artist Lyn Rye is a remarkable bassist and vocalist, who writes beautiful songs of cosmic reflection and emotional depth with hooky, complex, and undeniably danceable grooves. Together with the soulfully precise drumming of Tommy Carrol and delicately detailed guitar work of Chet Zenor, Lyn Rye builds a beautiful sonic landscape of hope and resilience that will make you shake your booty!

Speaking of booty shaking, closing down the live stage will be none other than Chicago’s own Reverend Van Ferdinand leading his funk-soul all-stars, Heartshades. An electro-magnetic front man and musical force of nature, Reverend Van leaves everything on stage, with dance skills as honed as his guitar and vocal skills. His band, Heartshades, is an absolute wrecking crew of Chicago musicians that would make Baby Huey proud, and with Heartshades behind him, the Reverend is unstoppable. Get ready to ride the Reverend’s musical wave of Love!

And as always and forever, The Big Fatastical’s resident DJ, and fellow April birthday boy, DJ Scrabblor will bring the house, rare groove, and Chicago classics for your dancing pleasure before and after the live sets. In honor of this special birthday blow-out, he will be joined on the decks by a special guest: fellow Southsider and deep dance-music head DJ Glennon (Sooper Records, No-Fi RPM crew) spinning stunning cuts from the depths of dance music history spanning jungle, industrial, footwork and house.
