This Week at the Hideout

Hello Friends
Tonight we have Arts of Life Band!  The Arts of Life Band makes danceable party music with a rock edge. It is an ongoing collaborative project between disabled and non-disabled artists in the Chicago area, based out of the Arts of Life community of artists.  Budway Farris and The Arts of Life Band member Ricky Canning open!
Thursday we have Terriers.  Terriers are a five-piece band with a love of four-part vocal harmonies.  They often cross genre boundaries, playing a blend of power-pop, country, and jazz.  Tonight is also the record releaseparty for Dann Morr.  Dann Morr, songwriter and sideman, steps out with his debut album ‘Shouting Into the Wind’, a collection of indie rock gems that deftly incorporates the best parts of his long tenure in the Chicago music scene.  The Phil Angotti Band opens
Friday our early show is The 53rd Ward: After Dark.  Fictional alderman Ed Bus brings “53rd Ward: After Dark” to the Hideout. This part late-night talk show, part variety show, part community meeting is just what Chicago ordered. Featuring live music, sketches, interviews and shenanigans, the Alderman is back and stronger than ever. Hell, he may even run for mayor…again.
LaterChrip Radio hosts a benefit by throwing a soul party with The Right Now and Get Up with the Get Downs.  It will be a night of dancing, fantastic singing and great bands helping out one of Chicago’s best free radio services.
Saturday we are closed for a private event.
But we open back up at eleven-thirty for our Saturday dance party with DJ Naomi Wallace on the turntables spinning 1960’s and 70’s funk & soul and remotely funky tunes from other bins.
Sunday, we get a little softer with Joan Shelley.  The Louisville, Kentucky-based singer and songwriter, also part of the old-time trio Maiden Radio, is touring her new album Electric Ursa out now on No Quarter Records.  This album received a 7.9 from Pitchfork who compare her to Nick Drake, Sharon van Etten andAngel Olson.  Jonathan Glen Wood and The Paulina Hollers open.
Monday, we are closed.
Tuesday we have Fictlicious.  The theme this month is The Haunted Show featuring writers reading original short fiction, and musicians performing original music and creative covers, all based upon the theme.  Tonight we have writers Steve Trumpeter, Shannon Heffernan, Laurie Ky, Jay Shearer, Michael McCauley and musicians Liam Davis and the Part-Time Lovers, The Sages and the Wise Guys & Lucky Eddie.
Tuesday, Trick or treat…or BOTH? Girl Group Chicago welcomes Chicago’s spookiest performers for a Halloween celebration that’s sure to be hair-raising –and we don’t just mean the beehives! The evening will conclude with a very special Halloween surprise from Girl Group Chicago.  Featuring performances by: Girl Group Chicago (as Ghoul Group Chicago), Blue Ribbon Glee Club, Red Rum, Alexandra Tsarpalas, The Warlock DJs & more TBA!
See you soon!
