On to this week!
Tonight we have Veggie Bingo from 5:30 to 8:00. It is gorgeous out so come and sit out in front with a frosty beer and win some great prizes from Irv and Shelly’s Fresh Picks, Dill Pickle Co-op, Central Pickling and more! Hot dogs donated by Hot Doug’s will be coming off the grill!
Later, Immediate Sound Series presents a set from Levin/Daisy Duo followed by a set fromStein/Levin/Abrams/Daisy. 4 of Chicago’s finest free jazz musicians playing together should be a mind expanding treat for you.
Thursday we have Thomas Comerford. Fresh off the release of a new album, with a dark heart and sturdy melodies, II bears the mark of a dedicated career musician immersing himself in songcraft and discovering new possibilities for his music through the studio. Panoramic & True and Sarah Holtschlag open.
Friday, we have a happy hour show with the folky americana of Woodrow Hart & the Haymaker. If it’s nice out hopefully we can get a play on the front porch!
Later, we have a wild bill with New World Ancients leading the charge. Imagine the soundtrack for a film noir version of a Greek tragedy set in the future, and you might be close to The New World Ancients’ sound. It’s progressive rock meets art rock meets psych rock meets new wave, et cetera. We have The Dirty Dirty Dollarsand (ORB) opening. We also have some comics! Dog’s Best Friend and Abby Stassen will get ya laughing in between sets.
Saturday we have The Donkeys. The Donkeys have San Diego, their hometown and influence, have woven a fundamental ease in their music – a rock, a roll, a sway, a slide – you could even call it a breeze. On Ride the Black Wave, The Donkeys continue their easy rolling, classic vibrations, but add a mystery and tension that make this record their most lyrically and instrumentally compelling. The Sharrows and Mike Castle open.
At midnight, the dance party is Home Skillet! An 80s and 90s throw-back party that’s been a blast!
Sunday we’re closed.
Monday we have Robbie Fulks paying tribute to Lou Reed by performing the The Blue Mask LP from to back. He’s enlisted actor Michael Shannon to perform as Lou Reed! This will be a very special night so we do havepresales going for it, please get your tickets now!
Tuesday, we have the 4th night of Gabriel Wallace‘s residency. Tonight we present Relevant Hairstyles, a large band performing a bunch of new music. Featuring members of Cave and other notable and influential bands. Leroy Bach is also performing.
