This Week at the Hideout

To celebrate Valentines Day this year The Hideout will Host First Friday on February 7th! FEBRUARY 7 at the  Museum of Contemprary (he)ART Chicago from 6 to 10pm.

We will present a celebration of music, art, performance, readings, interviews, soup and dancing, all in the name of LOVE.  Jeffery Thomas Orchestra premieres a new symphony, The Makeout Party Orchestra plays songs to swoon to, The Interview Show hosts huge guests, Bobby Conn & Monica BouBou share their love. Soup and Bread is serving up warmth in a bowl, Sally Timms, Jon Langford, Ronnie Kuller, Janet Bean and so so much more!  Check it out here to get the details and buy your tickets now!
At the Hideout this week, tonight we have Soup & Bread where the theme is something I’ve been anticipating all month long, Mac v. Cheese.  Um, yum!  Proceeds are going to Inspiration Kitchens this week.
Afterwards, Immediate Sound Series presents Dylan Ryan’s Sand.  Two sets from Dylan Ryan on drums, Timothy Young on guitar and Devin Hoff on bass!
Thursday, we have Paul Burch, Nashville’s honky tonk auteur and a writer of unmistakably modern but instantly classic songs.  He’ll be performing a riveting and haunting mix of honky tonk, stringband blues, and bop grooves that defies easy categories.  Angela James and Sima Cunningham open
Friday, remember that we are hosting the Love is Love party at the MCA!
Back at home base we have a sold-out show with The Damn Choir, The Wild Family and Nate van Allen.
Saturday is the vinyl release party for Kory Quinn, a DIY contemporary hobo intellectual, who has a refreshingly homespun take on Americana, a very welcome sigh of relief in today’s contemporary market.  Hideout family The Lawrence Peters Outfit headlines and Departure kicks off the night.
Dance party is Malt Shop who spin the best of soul, mo-town and 60s!
Sunday, join Curbside Splendor Publishing in celebrating the release of Tom Williams‘ Don’t Start Me Talkin,’ a comedic road novel about Brother Ben, the only remaining True Delta Bluesman, playing his final tour. Local poet, musician and visual artist Marvin Tate will play out the night.
Monday, Refinery 29, Alldayeveryday, Drag City and Land and Sea Dept present a closing party for new documentary “Everybody Street”.  Endless Boogie performs.  This is a free event but RSVP here.
Tuesday is the second night of Nora O’Connors month-long residency.  With a full band she will be performing the “lost” Buckingham/Nicks record in its entirety.  Sure to be a special one!
