Hideout acapella

Sure, sure — we have a lot of groovy music. But what happens when the bands aren’t booked? A whole lot of awesome, that’s what, with talk shows and comedy and literary smackdowns galore. So we’re happy to see that lately the talkers in our mix are getting some love.
Last week the blog Literary Chicago gave a shout to the Literary Death Match, a touring event-cum-verbal-competition that set up at the H/O earlier this month. And if you scroll down a little on the same blog, you’ll find an appreciation of our homegrown version of the same, Ian Belknap’s Write Club, which returns next Tuesday, June 21.
Meanwhile, speaking of homegrown, former Chicagoan Chris Mills  has an appreciation of  Mark Bazers The Interview Show on the Magnet blog, where he’s this week’s guest editor. (Currently on tour supporting his new album, Heavy Years, Chris comes home to the Hideout Friday, June 24.)
And, hey, we might as well throw in this Tribune feature on comic Hannibal Buress, who got his big break at – you guessed it — the Hideout.  Sweet!
