This Week At The Hideout

Hey Hey Everyone,
First things first, thanks soooo much for all the support and selling out the Hideout Block Party & A.V. Festwhich takes place next month!  We’ve got some surprises in store for you that weekend, but here’s a little taste of what is to come…one of our Friday headliners, Glen Hansard, was on Letterman this week which you can check out here!
The autumn schedule is shaping up to be really exciting and here’s a few new shows that just went on-sale:
9/21 M.A.K.U. Soundsytem
9/28 Al Scorch’s Country Soul Ensemble
10/5  Plush | JC & Co.
Anyways, there’s lots going on here this week so lets get into it…
Tonight it’s another edition of Hideout Veggie Bingo.  All proceeds this evening support the Altgeld Sawyer Corner Farm.
Later this evening the Immediate Sound Series presents the Extraordinary Popular Delusions.

Thursday we’ve got a rare treat with the illustrious Jon Langford’s Skull Orchard headlining a bill, which also includes a rare appearance by, Home & Garden, which is led by Pere Ubu bassist Tony Maimone, and No Grave Like The Sea kicks things off at 9pm

Friday is an extra special fund raiser for the Chicago Film Archive.  We are mixing CFA’s footage with 3 Chicago experimental filmmakers with 3 Chicago audio artists! Here is the formula: CFA footage x 3 filmmakers x 3 audio artists…Shake them up…Throw 3 magical sight and sound creations up on the screen.  Here is who we’ve got: Kent Lambert & CAVE, Jessica Bardsley & Tim Kinsella, Ellen Castleberry & Andy Resek and Joshua Abrams.  There’s also going to be an auction with loads of amazing prizes including a brand new bicycle, and the event will be hosted by WBEZ’s very own, Allison Cuddy.

Saturday we’ve got a HEAVY triple bill with Brooklyn’s very own, Starring, who will subject us to their sublimely stoned sounds, along with Thrill Jockey’s very own free wheeling’ ensemble, Guardian Alien, and one of our local favorite’s, E+, which features members of Disappears and Robbie Hamilton.
The dance party this weekend will be fronted by none other than our old pal, DJ Ben Fasman, who will help you shake your ass into the wee hours of the morning.

Next week we are gearing up to turn the Hideout into an Acid Test den of hedonism for the performances of HAIR: The Musical taking place here August 24th – 26th. There’s only 5 shows and we highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance online or from behind the bar.

Friday at noon there’s a very limited amount of blind pre-sale 5 day-passes going on sale for the Tomorrow Never Knows Festival taking place here and with our collaborators at the Metro, Smart Bar, Lincoln Hall, & Schubas January 16th – 20th.  We will be hosting some of the best indie comedians again this year and look forward to sharing more info about these really special shows in the coming months!
See you soon,
The Hideout
