The Hideout is the Best

The Reader’s Best of Chicago issue hit the streets — and the internet — today, and we’re thrilled to be singled out by Reader readers as the city’s Best Underground Music Venue. OK, OK. We tied with the Empty Bottle. But you really can’t go wrong with either … If I do say so myself. And the Bottle doesn’t have Chances Dances —  a reader’s pick for Best LGBT Dance Party — or Robbie Fulks, whose regular Monday night set was singled out by Reader critic Peter Margasak as Best Weekly Live-Music Gig. After hearing Robbie croon with Kelly Hogan earlier this week, we’ve got no quarrel with Peter’s taste.
We are, however, bummed to miss out on Best Urinal. Next year, Reader. Next year we will BRING IT.
