Unsolicited Feedback is a Chicago-based queer indie rock band that mixes themes of struggles both global and personal into energetic and, at times, humorous songs that leave you forgetting why you felt so defeated in the first place. Crrrmudgeon, their long awaited debut album, doesn’t shy away from sincerity. Even so, Unsolicited Feedback’s vulnerability doesn’t come at the price of fun. Using humor to reflect on lived experiences of panic attacks, unfortunate unexpected encounters, and the perils of late stage capitalism reassures the listener that you don’t have to choose between being honest and being fun. Crrrmudgeon weaves roaring guitar sounds and soaring vocals together to remind us that when the going gets tough, we all deserve a laugh.
LA-raised, Chicago-based contemporary power pop. Elton John but sinister. Rufus Wainwright but groovy. Ben Folds but uncynical. Karen Carpenter but dirty. ELO but more horns. Vulfpeck but not singing about lollipops and sports. Steely Dan but less acoustic fidelity and even more lyrics about ethical corruption.
