Nothing Compares to Her: A Salute to Sinéad
The late Sinéad O’Connor was a singular talent whose soaring voice and fearless advocacy for children, the LGBTQ community, and anyone being crushed by the boot of oppression made her an icon to generations of musicians and activists. Published in July 2025, the essay collection Nothing Compares to You: What Sinead O’Connor Means to Us (Atria/One Signal) brings together a renowned and multi-generational group of women and non-binary authors to pay tribute to O’Connor’s enduring music and her impact on their development as humans and artists.
Join Nothing Compares co-editor Martha Bayne and contributors Gina Frangello, Megan Stielstra, and Zoe Zolbrod for an intimate evening celebrating the life and legacy of this powerful artist, whose commitment to her ideals in the face of years of public condemnation has made her a role model for our time. A discussion moderated by Chicago Tribune music critic Britt Julious will be followed by a musical tribute to Sinéad by a supergroup of Chicago singers, including Janet Beveridge Bean, Angela James, Jeanine O’Toole, Julie Pomerleau, Marydee Reynolds, Amalea Tshilds, and L Wyatt. Plus! A special surprise in honor of what would have been Sinéad’s 59th birthday on December 8.
