Keith Secola (Ojibwa/Anishinabe) is one of the most successful
artists in Native America. His signature song, “NDN Kars,” cut
34 years ago with the Sand Creek Band, is still the most played
song on Native American radio stations. Since he launched his
career in the early 80s, he’s toured relentlessly, showcasing a
sound that blends traditional Native American sounds with
blues, rock, folk, country, reggae, Latin and more. He’s known
for songs that deliver politically conscious lyrics with a sly wit.
While he’s a legend to lovers of Native American music, and
well-known to followers of adventurous, independent sounds,
you won’t find his name in most music encyclopedias. He’s
determined to change that, as he enters a new phase of his
career.
He made an inroad to mainstream recognition last year, when
Don Giovanni released Circle, his debut album, for the first time
on CD. The label is also collaborating with him on the
promotion of his new release, Portals, a collection of
instrumentals, featuring Native flute, guitars, keyboard, bass,
drum kit and percussion, with touches of dub reggae, EDM and
flamenco added to his usual influences.
The wooden Native flute has a distinct, smooth mid-range, but
it’s able to produce sharp high tones, as well as deep bass
notes. “The music on Portals is an implosion into inner space,”
Secola says. “My relationship with the flute, guitar and piano
draws on Native music, but this is not a traditional Native flute
album. This music is intercultural and intergalactic.”

Multi-genre musician OPLIAM, who was born and raised in Minneapolis but now resides in Chicago, is a master at pushing musical boundaries. His unique fusion of “Alter-Native Rock” and “Native Americana” has attracted a passionate international fan base. Captivating crowds across Turtle Island, Australia, Hawaii, and New Zealand over the last decade.

In April 2024, OPLIAM released his highly anticipated fourth album, “Apocalypse Dance Party.”  signaling a new chapter in his musical journey. This dynamic project showcases his evolution as an artist, promising listeners an immersive and unforgettable experience. To celebrate the album’s launch, OPLIAM embarks on an International tour, bringing his electrifying performances to fans across Canada and the US.
