Two great-looking art exhibits open this Friday, January 14: Over on Superior and Ashland, Living Room Realty hosts the visual portion of 10 x 10: A collaboration between Chicago bands and printmakers, a collaboration between Homeroom and Spudnik Press. Ten artists were asked to chose a local band or musician; the musicians each recorded a song for a compilation and the artists then created a 10″ x 10″ three-color print inspired by the song. The whole Living Room show features artwork by the participating artists, including our own Kathleen Judge (above), a set from the Strictly Jug Nuts, and HOMEMADE DONUTS. That’s 6-9 at 1540 W. Superior. And from 7 to 11 up at 1561 N. Milwaukee, just south of the crotch, Johalla Projects hosts its second annual fundraiser, featuring an auction and raffle of work by Andrea Jablonski (superfab bartender), the legendary Cynthia Plaster Caster, and many more.
And, when you’re done with all that, hey! — you’re just a quick and chilly bike ride from the H/O. Come on by and see Les Ourses, I Kong Kult, and Nate Kinsella’s new project, Birthmark.
